Solanum melongena

Old Turkish heirloom that looks more like a tomato than an eggplant! Small, 2 to 3-oz., orange fruits should be harvested and eaten when they have green stripes and are sweet, before they mature to red and turn bitter. Tall, spineless, 4-ft. plants are laden with dozens of fruits. Simply cut them in half before cooking. Great for ornamental or culinary use!
